Skin care

Proper skin care means washing your face at least two to three times a day to try and remove some of the sebum and excess skin cells which cause blockage in the first place. There are dozens of skin care products on the market. It is important to choose the right product for your skin type.

Start from the basics of getting good clear skin, and you can’t get any more basic than water. Drinking lots of water helps your skin and it makes sense when the body is made up of 70 percent water.

A basic skin care routine also involves wash, cleansing, toning, moisturizing and an occasional facial scrub. Essential routines such as washing and cleansing with a gentle cleanser helps to loosen dirt, excess oil and unclog pores. This step is important to be done twice a day, morning and night. An unscented, hypoallergenic cleanser works best.

For acne skin care, you may want to consider using a skin care product which contains salicylic acid as well. Using a toner is helpful to remove any excess dirt and oil from the face. Be careful to avoid the eyes and the mouth and also not to overuse it as it may make your oil glands overreact and produce more oil than before. If you feel that this step is giving you a sting rather than just a refreshing tingle, then you might be overusing it. Leave it for a while. Besides this, you may also consider using acne treatments.

If you skin is acting normal or oily these days, you may still need a moisturizer. Some people almost never use one but this may not be the best practice. Furthermore, if you feel your skin is tight, then you might need a moisturizer to complete your dry skin care routine. Use a moisturizer that is marked oil-free or for oily skin, especially if you have oily or oil-prone skin. Oily-skin moisturizer is the lightest kind around.
